Start Visit (the step-by-step wizard)
Run a visit from booking to consent in guided steps, without picking the patient or doctor again at each step.
Start Visit walks you through a visit one step at a time. It's useful for a new team, and for clinics where the front desk starts the visit and the doctor takes over.
Open it from Start Visit in the sidebar, the dashboard, or Continue Visit on an appointment (which jumps to the step that appointment has reached).
The steps
| Step | What you do |
|---|---|
| 1. Appointment — Who and when | Pick the patient and doctor and book the appointment, or pick today's existing one. Register new patient works here too |
| 2. Check in — Mark the patient arrived | Confirm the patient is here. The wizard confirms and checks in the appointment in one step |
| 3. Consultation — Chief complaint & findings | Fill in the consultation note (see Consultations) |
| 4. Follow-up — Treatment, prescription, procedure | Choose what comes next: a treatment plan, a prescription or a procedure, and fill it in on the same screen |
| 5. Consent — Optional, sign or skip | Create and sign a consent form for today's treatment, or skip |
| 6. Done — Visit complete | A summary of what was recorded |
The progress strip at the top shows where you are. Click Continue to move on, or Finish visit on the last step.
If you try to leave with a half-filled follow-up form, the wizard warns you before you lose it. If you refresh during the consent step, you return to Follow-up and nothing is lost.
Visit flow preferences
Click the gear icon in the wizard to open Visit flow preferences. Changes apply clinic-wide, right away.
- Default follow-up action: which option on the Follow-up step is the main button (treatment plan, prescription or procedure), or No preference.
- Issue prescriptions immediately by default: pre-ticks Issue prescription immediately on new prescriptions. Untick it if your doctors prefer to review drafts first.
- Auto-advance after check-in: skips the check-in confirm click and moves straight to Consultation.
The same settings are in Clinic Settings → Preferences → Visit flow.
Start Visit or Quick Visit?
Start Visit does one follow-up item at a time and follows the appointment lifecycle closely. Quick Visit records the whole visit on one screen and is faster for doctors. Many clinics use Start Visit at the front desk (booking and check-in) and Quick Visit in the chair.
