Procedures

Record the treatment actually performed, so the patient's history, dental chart and bill are right.

ForDoctorClinic Admin

A procedure is a treatment that was actually performed: a filling done, an extraction done, one sitting of a root canal. A treatment plan says what should happen; procedures record what did happen. Procedures are what you bill for.

Recording a procedure by hand

  1. Go to Procedures → Record Procedure ("Log a clinical treatment that was performed, planned or unplanned.").
  2. Patient & doctor: the patient, and who performed it. Inside a visit the patient is locked, and the doctor defaults to the consulting doctor. Change it if someone else did the work.
  3. Procedure: the service, tooth and surface.
  4. Clinical details: Quantity, Outcome (for example Successful), Complications if any.
  5. Save. You'll see "Procedure recorded."

The price comes from your service list when the procedure is recorded. Later price changes don't affect it.

CompletedFinalised: "Completed procedures cannot be edited further."
CancelledRecorded by mistake, or didn't happen

Use Complete procedure once the record is right, and Cancel procedure for mistakes.

Procedures and billing

Completed procedures that haven't been billed yet are offered when you add items to an invoice, so nothing done is forgotten on the bill. See Invoices.

Procedures and the dental chart

Procedures from Quick Visit update the patient's dental chart automatically.

Finding procedures

Procedures lists all of them. Search by patient name, number or phone. Each patient's procedures are also under Treatments in their history.
