The dental chart
Chart each tooth with FDI numbering, then send findings to the consultation or the treatment plan in one go.
Each patient has one dental chart (odontogram) showing the condition of every tooth. It uses FDI numbering:
| Quadrant | Adult teeth | Children's teeth |
|---|---|---|
| Upper right | 11–18 | 51–55 |
| Upper left | 21–28 | 61–65 |
| Lower left | 31–38 | 71–75 |
| Lower right | 41–48 | 81–85 |
So 36 is the lower left first molar and 11 is the upper right central incisor.
Opening the chart
On the patient's page, the Dental chart card shows a small chart. Click Open full dental chart to edit it. Receptionists can't see or edit charts.
Charting
- Click a tooth (or several) to select it.
- Choose the condition or treatment: caries, filling, crown, missing, root canal, implant, extraction needed and so on, and the surfaces where relevant.
- Repeat for other teeth. The chart saves as you work.
The chart's extra tools (export, import, settings) are hidden to keep the screen clean. Open them with the tools toggle when you need them.
Procedures completed in Quick Visit update the chart automatically, so a root canal recorded as done on 36 shows on the chart without charting it twice.
Sending findings to the consultation
Apply findings to consultation copies charted findings into the current consultation's Clinical findings and Diagnosis.
- Pick which teeth to include.
- Teeth already applied to an earlier consultation start unticked. Tick one to include it anyway.
- If nothing is charted yet: "Chart something first — there's nothing to apply yet."
Turning findings into a treatment plan
Add chart findings to treatment plan turns charted teeth into plan items:
- The dialog lists teeth with new findings.
- For each tooth, Select a service (and a Surface where needed).
- Add. You'll see "Added N items".
Findings already added to a plan aren't offered again, so you won't plan the same tooth twice. If there's nothing new: "No new findings on this chart yet."
Tooth numbers elsewhere
Everywhere else in Clinic24x7 (Quick Visit, plan items, procedures) asks for the same FDI two-digit
number, for example 16. Quick Visit also has a tooth grid you can tap instead of typing.
